Late Models and Grand Stocks make their debut this Saturday night
San Antonio Speedway racing is back on schedule

San Antonio, TX (March 23, 2007) – It looks like the rain will off for the stock-car racing action at San Antonio Speedway’s (SAS) half-mile, high-banked speedway this Saturday night, March 24.

This Saturday’s race was previously scheduled to run last weekend, but heavy rains flooded the pit area and parking lots at the speedway – forcing a postponement. Even though some drizzle is expected on Saturday morning, the threat of heavy rains has diminished in Saturday’s weather forecast.

The SAS Late Model and Grand Stock classes will be making their first appearance this season, along with the SAS Sportsman and Road Runner classes, the USRA Trucks and Lonestar Legacy Series.

The San Antonio Speedway staff is ready for this weekend’s event. “We’ve been pumping water out of the pit area non-stop over the past week, and now we’re ready to race,” said Rick Day, SAS President and General Manager. “If everyone would just hold off with the rain dances until after this weekend, it’s a ‘go’ for racing, starting with the open practice session tonight.”

Quality Pre-Owned Cars and Trucks became a new sponsor at San Antonio Speedway this year, and this growing local company also sponsors two vehicles that will be racing on Saturday night – the #20 Late Model driven by Jeff Wills and the #43 USRA Truck piloted by Chris Snocker.

Jeff Wills, 37, has been racing in the Late Model class for the past four years, and he’s excited about his partnership with Quality Pre-Owned Cars and Trucks.

“My biggest worry in the past has been the amount of money it takes to run a Late Model,” commented Wills. “Now that Quality Pre-Owned has stepped up to be my major sponsor, it has taken a lot of pressure off me to get my car ready to race.”

Wills plans to run his Late Model the entire 2007 season, and he knows he’s up against some tough competition, especially from two of the past Late Model champions – Joe Aramendia (2006 Champion) and Robert Barker (2005 Champion).

“I know that Joe and Robert are some of the best drivers in the Late Model class,” said Wills. “I’m hoping that Quality’s help with my car will make me more competitive with these guys.”

Quality Pre-Owned’s Steve McInturff is very optimistic about the addition of Wills to the Quality racing team.

“Jeff presented us with an impressive portfolio that showed his past accomplishments and his objectives for the future,” commented McInturff. “During our initial conversations with Jeff, we immediately felt that he was an honest, hard-working guy. And now that he’s come on board with Quality, we feel he’s been really conscientious about how he uses his sponsorship money and communicates with us. He’s also very concerned about making a good impression on his sponsors, and he’s willing to spend lots of his personal time to show his car and his support for Quality Pre-Owned.”

Wills’ #20 Late Model race car is a 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo, with an engine built by Duffin Engines and JP Racing. Jimmy Wills (Jeff’s brother) is the Crew Chief for the team, and the pit crew members are Steve McInturff, Chris Snocker, Scott Sedor, Jim Miller and Tim Schreiver.

On Saturday, the grandstand gates open at 5:00 p.m., and the opening ceremonies start at 6:50 p.m. Quality Pre-Owned Cars and Trucks will be furnishing the pace car on Saturday night – a bright yellow 2007 Dodge Charger RT with a Daytona package and a hemi engine – and it will be offered up for sale to race fans.

Admission for the March 24 race is $12 for adults, $8 for senior citizens, military and spouse and students (with ID), and $3 for children 7-12. Children 6 and under are admitted free. Families can also take advantage of a free child’s admission (ages 7-12) by picking up a “Kids Free” coupon at any Express Lube location in San Antonio. These coupons offer a free child’s admission with the purchase of an adult admission ticket.

San Antonio Speedway is located at 14901 State Highway 16 South towards Poteet, just 3.5 miles outside Loop 410 and inside Loop 1604. For more information on San Antonio Speedway, visit http://sanantoniospeedway.com or call the race hotline at 210-628-1499.
